On February 5, as part of the “2025 Taiwanese Youth Celebrate Chinese New Year in Jinan” series of events, 22 Taiwanese students and teachers visited the Fuxue Confucian Temple in Jinan, where they participated in a simplified Confucian worship ceremony and studied Confucian culture.
The group explored various architectural landmarks, including the screen wall, South Gate, Lingxing Gate, the Great and Small Pan Ponds, Zhongguizhongju Pavilion, Dacheng Hall, and Minglun Hall. They listened to explanations about the temple’s historical evolution, primary functions, and architectural features, gaining a deeper appreciation for its rich cultural significance as the “Cultural Hub of Qilu” and the “Literary Center of Haidai.”
Dressed in traditional Hanfu attire, the Taiwanese students performed the bowing ritual (Yili) before the statue of Confucius in front of Dacheng Hall, expressing their deep respect for the sage. Led by the event host, they also recited excerpts from The Great Learning (Daxue) in unison.
This immersive experience allowed the Taiwanese youth to engage deeply with Confucian ritual culture, fostering a profound understanding of the core values of respecting teachers, honoring virtue, and aspiring for moral excellence—key tenets of China’s rich cultural heritage.
